The city of Montefiascone is located on top of a hill on the side of the crater of Lake Bolsena at 640 meters above sea level and from this privileged position you can see an incomparable landscape, which goes from the Tyrrhenian Sea to the Umbria and the basin of the lake with its beautiful islands Martana and Bisentina. The fertile valley that surrounds it contains vegetable gardens, olive groves, vineyards that give rise to the wine production of the acclaimed Moscatello called “Est! Est !! Est !!!”. To see and visit in Montefiascone: the Rocca dei Papi, of the second half of 1200, restored and embellished, is often used for cultural events; the Cathedral of S.Margherita, easily identifiable from every part of the city; its majestic dome is, in fact, the third largest in Italy for its internal diameter; the Romanesque-Gothic Basilica of S.Flaviano, built in the 11th century. In the third chapel of the left aisle of the church of S. Flaviano, a plaque is visible in honor of Giovanni Defuk, a name linked to the history of the Montefiascone wine.
